Welcome to The Old Church With The Purple Door.
The Old Church with The Purple Door stands as a beacon of spiritual sovereignty in Horton, Michigan—a reclaimed sacred space where ancient wisdom meets a modern vision of self-sustainability. We are more than just a gathering; we are a vibrant ecosystem for the Pagan, Spiritualist, and Witchy community, dedicated to reclaiming our autonomy and returning to the rhythms of the Earth. By weaving together a diverse tapestry of seekers, we have created a sanctuary where spiritual practice is lived through action. Through the foundational work of our 16 unique Guilds, we provide a safe haven for those ready to deepen their knowledge, share their gifts, and build a life of purpose.
Community is the heartbeat of everything we do, fostered through a consistent rhythm of connection and shared labor. Whether we are gathering for the inclusive warmth of our Soul Care Sunday potlucks, exploring the practical mysteries of our Monthly WytchCraft Nights, or tending to the literal roots of our collective future in the Community Garden project, we believe that "having light, we seek to illuminate." Every seed planted and every ritual shared is a step toward a stronger, more resilient collective. Here, you are not defined by titles or degrees, but by your willingness to learn and your commitment to building a life in harmony with Nature and each other.
Soul Care Sunday
Soul Care Sunday is our primary public heartbeat—an open-door invitation to seekers, pagans, and the witchy community looking for a grounded sense of belonging. Held every Sunday from noon to 2 PM, this gathering offers a relaxed space for Coffee, Pastries, and Spiritual Discussion where every voice has value. While we provide the coffee and tea, we invite the community to bring a favorite pastry or baked good to share. It is a time to nourish the spirit and connect with like-minded souls, reclaiming the idea of "church" as a community-driven sanctuary centered on spiritual sovereignty and mutual support.
WytchCraft Night
Monthly WytchCraft Night invites you to step into the workshop and turn spiritual theory into tangible majick. Held every second Thursday of the month from 6 PM to 9 PM, these evenings are a blend of creative fellowship and practical metaphysics. While you sip on provided coffee and tea, the Artisan Guild leads a hands-on "wytch" craft workshop, teaching you how to create sacred tools and items with intentional majickal applications. It is the perfect opportunity to sharpen your skills, learn a new craft, and connect with the community in a space where the "work" of the wytch is celebrated and shared.
Drumming and Sound
Rhythm & Resonance: Drumming and Sound Healing
Find your center and raise the collective vibration during our monthly Sunday afternoon circles. On the first Sunday of every month, we gather for our Drumming Circle, a high-energy session of rhythmic meditation designed to align our heartbeats. On the second Sunday, we shift into deep restoration with our Sound Healing Circles, using frequency and vibration to facilitate spiritual wellness.
These sessions are uniquely co-hosted by Luminarium Obscura, who contributes their "light and sound" through advanced light projection technology. This partnership adds a mesmerizing visual component to the evening, creating a fully immersive environment where light and sound dance together to deepen your meditative experience. Whether you are looking to release through the power of the drum or receive through the serenity of frequency, these circles offer a sacred space to witness the transformative power of resonance.scription here.
Wheel of The Year
At The Old Church, we live in harmony with the natural rhythms of the Earth, marking the turning of the seasons through the Wheel of the Year. These eight solar festivals—the solstices, equinoxes, and cross-quarter days—serve as our communal milestones for reflection, gratitude, and magic. On these significant Ceremony Days, our coffee and pastries transition into our traditional Full Potluck Feasts, where the community gathers to share a meal and celebrate the season’s bounty. From the first stirrings of spring to the deep introspection of winter, these celebrations offer us a chance to pause, honor the land, and realign our spirits with the ever-changing cycles of life, death, and rebirth.
The Guilds of The Purple Door
The Guilds of The Purple Door are the foundational pillars of our community, inspired by the ancient concept of Druidic Groves. More than just interest groups, these 16 specialized guilds function as a self-sustaining internal economy where members learn, master, and share vital skills—ranging from the medicinal wisdom of the Herbalist Guild to the sustainable practices of the Eco Guild and the spiritual guardianship of the Warrior Guild. By joining a guild, you commit to a deeper level of education and contribute your unique light to the collective well-being of the grove. Whether you are seeking to craft physical goods, preserve ancient lore, or facilitate healing, there is a place for your hands and your heart to do meaningful work that reduces our reliance on the outside world and strengthens our bond with each other.
